Application Procedure

To apply, you must complete and return the application form in the Application Package, which has its own Application Instructions. If you do not already have the form and notes, you can obtain it from the programme website: http://www.bdg.nus.edu.sg/mcldr/. Please read the Application Instructions carefully, as well as the points below, before beginning to complete the form: if you do not complete all the sections, your application will not be considered. The closing date for the submission of applications for the 2007–2008 intake is 18 May 2007, but late applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Interviews of shortlisted applicants will be held in June and places begin to be allocated thereafter. You are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as possible. If you leave it too close to the beginning of the semester (in August), all places may already be taken.

Completing the application form

Please follow the guidance below on specific sections of the form:

Section B: Academic Qualifications:

You should request official transcripts of academic records from each university/institution you attended. The Transcript Request Form in the Application Package can be used for this purpose. If you have attended more than one university institution, you should make photocopies of the attached Transcript Request Form as required. Please note that for foreign and non-NUS graduates, the official transcripts must be sent to the DRGS directly from their universities/institutions.

If you are an NUS graduate, you should submit certified true copies of your official transcripts or examination result slips. To apply for transcripts, you can obtain instructions from the NUS website or apply personally at the Registrar’s Office, NUS.

Section D: Work Experience

Please complete this in full for the last five years, including any periods of activity as a self-employed person or partner.

Section H: Objective of Pursuing This Programme

Here write a brief summary of your reasons for wanting to do the MSc programme and what you hope to gain from it. Do your best to be clear and informative here.

Section K: Referees

Here give your two referees’ details. Only one academic reference is necessary for the MSc; your second reference must be from an employer or professional contact who knows your work well and can give a view on your suitability for the MSc programme. If your most recent experience of further education was so long ago that no academic referee is reasonably available, both your references may be from employers or professional contacts.

Section M: Source of Finance of Study

If you expect (or know) that your employer or firm will pay part or all of your fees, give details here, including the sponsor’s name and address. Attach a letter from your sponsor confirming this. Please note that you undertake personal responsibility for your fees, even if you expect someone else to pay part or all of them: see section 12 of this Prospectus.

Organising your references

Recommendations from two referees are to be submitted by using the Referee’s Report Forms in the Application Package. Complete the top section on both reference forms and give them to your referees. Do not wait for your references before sending in your form: ask your referees to complete the form and send it directly to the DRGS.

Returning the form: Checklist

When you have completed the application form, return it to the DRGS (for the address, click here), accompanied by the following:

  • Two passport-sized photographs, with your name in capitals on the back of each;
