Local Energy Code

All air-conditioned buildings in Singapore must comply with the local energy standards. During the building plan submission stage, the OTTV and U-value calculations are submitted to the Building Construction Authority for approval. The Certificate of Statutory Completion for the building is issued after the works have been completed in accordance with the approved plans. Some of the standards are presented below:

Buildings

1. Building envelope OTTV of air-conditioned building.
   The OTTV for the gross area of exterior walls shall not exceed 45W/m².
   

2. Roof OTTV of air-conditioned building.
   Where the roof is provided with skylights or any other materials, which allows the passage of light through, the OTTV for the gross area of the roof shall not exceed 45W/m².
   

3. Maximum thermal transmittance for roof of air-conditioned building.
   For any other type of roof not mentioned in (b) above, the average thermal transmittance for the gross area of the roof shall not exceed the prescribed limits shown in the table 1 below.
