About Building Energy
The Building Energy Research and Information
Centre is a joint initiative of the Department of Building, School of
Design and Environment, National University of Singapore (NUS), and the
Building and Construction Authority of Singapore (BCA). Set up in
November 2000, it aims to promote and achieve energy efficient building
best practices among the various professionals and users in the
planning, design, management and use of buildings.
BuildingEnergy is hosted by the Centre for
Total Building Performance (CTBP)-- a joint BCA-NUS Centre for Tropical
Building Research.
BuildingEnergy aims to work towards a
balanced and healthy growth of building energy efficiency in Singapore.
This is achieved through undertaking strategic research and ensuring
that useful findings of all research are disseminated to the users in a
speedy and usable manner. From time to time it will organize programmes
and activities to promote the efficient use of energy and resources in
buildings. Building energy will focus, in particular, on energy
efficiency and building performance issues relevant to the climatic
conditions and people of the tropics.
